Foundation Stage

As we do not have a nursery, children begin Early Years Foundation Stage in F2 the September after they are four. They are invited to induction visits on three occasions before starting at school.  We follow the statutory EYFS guidance for curriculum planning.

We cover the 7 areas of learning:

  • Personal, social, emotional development.
  • Communication and language.
  • Physical development.
  • Literacy
  • Mathematical development
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts.

We follow a play based curriculum where children learn by actively exploring the resources in the environment around them where they are supported to develop their creativity and critical thinking. Children learn through indoor and outdoor experiences. Visits and visitors play an important role in developing first hand learning experiences.

Children are assessed throughout the year leading towards assessment using the EYFS profile which is reported to parents at the end of the year.
