We have had so much fun over the past few weeks on the run up to the Easter holidays. Our Easter Egg Hunt was a fabulous day, with over 160 children and parents attending! We raised over £600 for school funds thanks to your kind donations and the hard work of our amazing PTA. We had a special Easter raffle and held an Easter Bonnet Competition. The staff found it hard to judge and in the end we had 2 joint winners and a runner up. They all won a special gift certificate to spend at our Bookshop on a Friday morning. Well done guys! At the end of every term we have a special assembly where we celebrate children who have come to school as often as they can with a Silver certificate going to children with 97% or above attendance and a Gold certificate going to children with 100% attendance. It was so lovely to see so many children being awarded. Whilst we were in assembly though we had a very special visitor..... the Easter Bunny! He hopped around school and made sure every child in school had an Easter egg to take home at the end of the day! Mrs Peart was not very happy that he left lots of paw prints around school but he was very kind to give everyone such a special gift. We hope all our families have a lovely time in the holidays, and hopefully all staff will enjoy a well earned rest! Happy Easter everyone!!
Chimpanzees of Happy Town
We had a brilliant time on our recent visit to the Civic Theatre in Rotherham to watch The Chimpanzees of Happy Town. We had been learning the story in class, and as part of the visit, we had to learn special actions and songs to perform at the theatre! It was very exciting. When we got to the theatre, the stage was all ready for the orchestra to come out and we met Polly in person! It was lovely to see the children come alive as they were performing the songs and actions. Thank you to those parents who came along and helped us on the day - hopefully you enjoyed it as much as we did!
World Book Day 2017
We had an absolutely amazing time on Thursday 2nd March celebrating our love of reading for World Book Day. This year, we decided to dress up as our favourite characters and share our favourite books. The children and adults loved sharing our favourite stories and the children had a special treat with a different teacher visiting their class to read at story time. Thank you to all parents and staff for making this day so special - we had a great time in assembly showing off our great outfits!
To kick off the children's learning about Space in style, we had a special visit from a company who came and set up a Wonderdome in our hall!! All classes had chance to visit throughout the day and they found out so many interesting facts about the Solar System! We went on such an amazing journey! Hopefully the children came home and told you all about it! Watch out for a picture in the Rotherham Advertiser soon! We then completed our topic by sharing some of our learning with our parents - the pictures below are from Class 5's special assembly. We hope you enjoyed finding out about the children's wonderful learning.
Christmas Dinner 2016
It was lovely to see all the children's excitement when our hall was decorated for our Christmas dinner. We were even given crackers this year to share with our friends. The dinner was yummy! All the grown ups had a dinner too. There were lots of jokes shared and singing to Christmas songs playing in the background.
Professor Shell's Magic Show!
After our pyjama party to end Book@Bedtime, our PTA had organised for Professor Shell to come to school and put on an amazing magic show! We had a wonderful time watching and taking part. A great way to start December!
Book at bedtime!
Well what a wonderful time we had in November, celebrating our Book@Bedtime month! All children in school were set a challenge - for their parents to read to them every night in November. To launch the event we had a very special treat - a wonderful theatre group came and performed 'The Wizard of Oz'! It was amazing! The challenge was tricky but we had so many responses back! All the completed papers were put in a bucket and 5 winners were pulled out! Well done to everyone involved. Thank you to all parents for taking part and supporting your child with their reading skills.
We had a wonderful time in school celebrating our Harvest Festival this term. The children learned about why this is a special time of year and how this is celebrated all over the world. Classes 1, 2 and 3 presented some lovely work, poems and songs for parents and the rest of the school. They were great! Our picture was even in the Rotherham Advertiser! Thank you to all parents who supported us on the day.

We are currently in the process of collating all the results so we can send the results off and claim your prizes! We also had a special 'On Your Wheels' assembly during the first week to ensure children understood how to travel to school safely on their bikes and scooters. It was great fun! Below are some pictures of the special events from the 2 week period.

KS1 Dance Workshop
Children in classes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 had a wonderful day of dancing on 16th May as an enhancement to their Stay Strong, Live Long topic work. The children really enjoyed learning about how dancing can contribute to keeping you fit - and it's lots of fun! The five classes all learnt a different dance such as the jitterbug, macarena, disco dancing, zumba and hip-hop! It was a fantastic day and the children's behaviour was excellent. Thank you to all the parents who came to watch our special show at the end of the day in the playground. Below are just a few pictures of the final event.
Sir Scallywag and the Battle of Stinky Bottom
On 19th April, everyone in school took part in a very special visit to the Civic Theatre in Rotherham to take part in an amazing musical extravaganza - Sir Scallywag and the Battle of Stinky Bottom! Every class went on the visit, having read the story and learned several songs that they were able to join in with on the day. When we got there, we were joined by the Music In The Round orchestra, who brought along their special instruments to play along with us. We found out about the violin, the clarinet, the piano, the cello and the french horn! It was so much fun. We joined in happily and Mrs Peart and all the grown ups were very proud of our wonderful behaviour throughout. Take a look at some of the pictures below - hopefully you will see how wonderful the day was!
Here are some videos we also took!
Year 2 visit to English Institute of Sport
35 of our Year 2 children visited the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on 7th April to take part in a special Athletics Festival. Our children really did us proud - their behaviour was excellent and they were great sportsmen and women! We even had a 1st place in the long jump! Well done everyone who was lucky enough to take part!
First week back - Summer term
We have had an amazing start to the Summer term with some very exciting learning going on throughout school! The eggs have been delivered into our Foundation classes so the children can begin to learn about growth and life cycles; KS1 classes have had a visit from a dental nurse to learn about the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day (to keep that bad monster plaque away!!) and children in class 1 have been busy developing our school garden. Take a look at the photos to see some of these things in action! Let's hope the rest of this term is just as exciting!
KS1 visits to Doncaster Robin Hood Airport
We had an amazing time on our recent visits to Doncaster Airport. The children absolutely loved finding out about the Vulcan Bomber and it's role over the past 55 years. We sat on a real Boeing 727 and even had our lunch on there too! Finally we visited the airport itself and found out about the different areas and the jobs that are needed to make sure the airport can function everyday! The children were extremely well behaved throughout the whole day and asked some fantastic questions. We have already created some wonderful writing about the day!
Road Safety Assembly
As we are still having several issues regarding safe use of the roads around school, we organised a visit from a road safety officer to help the children make good choices and stay safe when they are outside of school. It was a really fun and interactive session, which the children clearly enjoyed!!
KS1 Dinostar Visit
Classes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 were very lucky this week when a special visitor from the Dinostar museum in Hull came to school, bringing with him some very interesting artefacts! The children absolutely loved finding out about lots of different dinosaurs and then had lots of time to explore the resources. We were very proud of the children's fantastic behaviour and great questions.
Junk Percussion Workshop - FS2
All classes from our Foundation Stage (Classes 6, 7 and 8) had such a fantastic time during our special workshop. Children are learning about recycling and the important job of refuse collectors; so they decided to do some recycling of their own and create some funky sounds! Lorraine, who led the workshop, taught them about a range of different instruments and also some great songs too. Here are some pictures of the children in action!
End of Autumn Term
We are very sad to see the end of the Autumn term, but we are very proud of how much the children have learned and developed over the last 15 weeks! Here are some pictures of the fantastic displays of children's work during this final half term. A very big thank you to all staff for working hard to create such a fantastic environment for the children to learn in.

We welcomed Rotherham Music Service into school yesterday and we had so much fun! The Brass Band brought their instruments (and some other things!) to teach us about this family of instruments. We listened to and joined in with lots of seasonal songs. The children really enjoyed themselves!! Well done!
Well - what an amazing 3 days it has been! The staff and children have worked extremely hard to put on a wonderful show for you all - I hope you are as proud of them as I am! We have some fantastic singers and budding actors in all the year groups! Both the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 performances were filmed today, ready for DVDs to be handed out next week.
Thank you so much for coming and sharing the children's performances - below are a few pictures of them all. Merry Christmas!
Professor Shell's Magic Show
Thank you so much to the members of our PTA group for organising this event. The children laughed out loud to Professor Shell's jokes and tricks for just about the whole hour!! It was lovely to see the children enjoying themselves, and they particularly loved the exciting finale!
Below are some pictures from the show.
Road Safety Competition
A huge well done to the winners of our Road Safety competition recently. Mrs Webb had asked our children to create a poster to tell drivers not to do 3 point turns in the road when children are crossing the road. I'm sure you will agree the winning posters are fantastic! Well done and thank you to everyone who created a poster.
Book@Bedtime in November
We are so grateful for all of our parents who read to their children every night during the month of November. The children had a wonderful time in school yesterday, wearing their pyjamas and reading favourite books. We held a prize draw for all those children who had completed the challenge and those children won books signed by our special visitor, Steve Smallman, as well as vouchers for WHSmith!
Well done to everyone who took part. We hope you had a fantastic month of reading with your mummies and daddies!
Below is a picture of our very lucky winners! Mrs Peart thinks we are all winners if our grown ups have been reading to us every night though!
