Andy & The Odd Socks video
Please see the email below which I have received from Andy & The Odd Socks. We were very lucky to have Andy & The Odd Socks visit us in school last year and they have now asked if we can be in their new music video! A consent form will be sent home to fill in and return to school by Thursday 1st October at the latest so that we can complete the filming and send these off to Andy.
Dear Mrs Peart,
I am writing to you on behalf of Andy Day, CBeebies/CBBC and his band Andy and the Odd Socks.
Since 2017, The Anti-Bullying Alliance and Andy and the Odd Socks, have held National Odd Socks Day, a day for children to come together to celebrate individuality, to be kind and accepting of each other’s differences and most importantly to be themselves. Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying week, run by the Anti-Bullying Alliance of which Andy and the band are patrons. Anti-Bullying Week will launch with #OddSocksDay on November 16 in schools across the country.
As you know, every year, the band write and record an official anthem for Anti-Bullying Week inspired by the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s chosen theme, the 2020 theme is United Against Bullying. This year, Andy and the Odd Socks are releasing a cover of the Sham 69 classic, The Kids Are United – a true youth anthem with a rousing message of togetherness. This official Odd Socks Day 2020 track features lyrics inspired by conversations the band had with school children earlier this summer and all profits are being donated to the Anti-Bullying Alliance.
The song is always accompanied by a music video and always features children, this year we feel this is more important than ever. I have attached a link to a previous year’s video for information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of5CxXz662Y
I’m delighted to invite your school to feature in our music video, as one of only 30 schools in the UK to be invited to take part. The finished film will be shared by media and on the Andy and the Odd Socks and Anti-Bullying Alliance’s social media channels and always plays a big part in Odd Socks Day. This will be very simple to film on a phone and will be things like, the children jumping up and down in time to the song or freestyle dancing to the tune and so on. We appreciate that children will be in bubbles and so small groups in the shots will be fine.
This is a wonderful opportunity and I hope you will allow your child to take part. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
