Festive Family Learning Challenge - join now!
Thu 12 Nov 2020We are very excited to be offering a Festive Family Challenge in conjunction with Rotherham CLC for all families in school. You are able to sign up the challenge from today until Wednesday 18th November. The challenge is open to all children throughout school but places will be given on a first come, first served basis so make sure to get your name down as soon as possible. We will be in touch after the 18th with further information to those families who have secured a place.
The CLC are going to provide all the resources that you need to take part in the challenge and all parents have to do is complete an enrolment form so they can claim the funding from the government (this form will be sent home once you have a confirmed place). Once the completed form has been received back into school, your packs will be sent home with your child for you to complete the challenge at home. Please note that if you have more than one child in school with us, each child will need an enrolment form filled out by a different adult e.g. mum or dad, or a grandparent.
We do hope lots of you will get involved and enjoy this exciting activity at home with your children. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Video Resource Centre - Remote Learning
Tue 10 Nov 2020As part of our contingency planning, we have been working hard to develop a new learning platform which will be used to support remote learning opportunities in case of isolation. The resource centre is available through the following link or by going to the 'Children' menu on our school app/website: https://www.sitwellinfantschool.co.uk/topic/children
We have added our assemblies from the past few weeks as well as key videos to support parents with learning from home. We will be adding further content in the following weeks and months and we will create a specific area for parents to use if a whole class has to isolate due to a positive case of Coronavirus. If your child is isolating currently, please use these videos to support with their learning.
We hope you find these videos useful and would welcome your feedback. If you have any questions, please do get in touch.

Children in Need - Friday 13th November
Tue 10 Nov 2020We are going to be celebrating Children In Need in school on Friday this week, and children and staff are able to come to school dressed down for just a £1 donation. Children can come in their normal clothes, fancy dress, spots, pyjamas - it's totally up to you! Each class will have a container to collect their donations in and we will then put this together and count it up next week. I am sure we will be able to raise a wonderful amount for this worthy cause.
We can't wait to see you all looking great on Friday!

Government guidance - update for parents
Fri 06 Nov 2020As you may be aware, further guidance was released by the government regarding the changes in restrictions from Thursday 5th November. The wide range of preventative measures that we already have in place are keeping children and staff safe and these will continue. This includes the staggered timings for entry and exit to school and the wearing of masks when you drop off and collect your child.
The guidance now clearly states that households should not be mixing, apart from where a support bubble or childcare bubble has been formed. This is where you link with one other household to support with childcare etc. We do now expect that parents and carers will drop off and collect their own child each day moving forward to follow the guidance. If you are in exceptional circumstances and have formed a childcare or support bubble, please inform your child's class teacher who this will be so that we are aware.

Closure of Class 1
Sun 01 Nov 2020Unfortunately we currently have a staff shortage due to Coronavirus in Class 1. Sadly, this means that children in Class 1 will not be able to attend school for some or all of this week. We will keep the situation under review, and as soon as we are able to, we will advise parents and carers when the children can return. We are hoping that this will be a short closure of only a few days, but this all depends on staff being able to return to work.
We want the children to be able to complete their learning whilst at home, so a Home Learning pack will be sent home tomorrow with a range of resources for the children to use. If parents and carers are bringing another child to school in the morning, we will handover their pack at the school gates.
