Second hand uniform
Thu 16 Sep 2021Following your feedback, our PTA are going to be creating our own second hand uniform shop, where parents will be able to buy items of uniform in excellent condition.
We are just in the process of setting this up and would be grateful for any donations of jumpers, cardigans, polo shirts, skirts, trousers, summer dresses and PE kits that you may have at home.
Please drop your donations outside reception.
Thank you for your continued support.

Home packed lunches
Tue 14 Sep 2021If you are sending your child to school with a packed lunch from home, please make sure it is a healthy lunch and it does not include too many sweet treats. We have noticed that some children are bringing several chocolate bars or several biscuits every day which means they are not getting a balanced diet. We have also noticed that several children are bringing nut products to school in their lunchbox but this is not permitted as we are a nut free school and do not allow any items of food that contain nuts.
The nut free policy and healthy food guide for packed lunches has been emailed to all parents so that you are aware of which foods are not permitted and what foods to include to make sure it is a balanced meal for a child.
Please also ensure that if you send your child with grapes that these are cut in half so they are not a choking hazard. Thank you for your continued support.

Special Mentions
Tue 14 Sep 2021Our Key Stage One classes (Classes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) will be beginning to hold Special Mentions assemblies from Tuesday 21st September. These assemblies begin at 2.20pm. Special Mentions assemblies are an opportunity for us to celebrate our children's wonderful behaviour and hard work with you. A child from each class is nominated each week and they sit at the front of the hall and share their special nomination and/or work that they are proud of.
Now that we have been able to relax restrictions, we will be inviting parents to attend this assembly when your child is nominated for a special mention. Your child will bring home an invitation when they are nominated to let you know what day and time their assembly will be. Please confirm with an adult in your child's class if you are able to attend.
We are also eager to share our children's special achievements from home. If they have won an award or have got a certificate or something special to share with the rest of the school, please send this into school and we will include it in one of our upcoming assemblies. Depending on how many children are sharing things from home, it may take a few weeks for their news to be shared so please ask them to be patient if it isn't straight away!
We are very much looking forward to welcoming parents into school for our Special Mentions assemblies. Please speak to your child's class teacher if you have any questions about this.

Poet visit - Friday 10th September
Wed 08 Sep 2021To enhance our new learning in Literacy, we have organised for the poet Andy Tooze to visit our school on Friday 10th September. He will work with all children in school to read and perform poems and the children will then work with him to write their own poems. It is going to be lots of fun!
Andy has very kindly offered to bring signed copies of his three books 'Green Shoots Rising', 'The Poetry Bug' and 'The Poetry Bug Strikes Again' which children can purchased at a reduced rate of £5 per book.
If you would like to purchase any of the books, please send in the correct money in an envelope with the name(s) of the books you would like to buy, along with your child's name and class number. Thank you.

Classes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 - Visit to Cleethorpes
Wed 08 Sep 2021On Monday 13th September, children in Classes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be going on a wonderful educational visit to Cleethorpes. We will be leaving school at 9am prompt and will return to school at the later time of 4.30pm. Parents will need to collect their child from the playground as usual at this later time. Please ensure you do not arrive late on Monday as we will need to set off swiftly at the start of the school day.
Children will need to come to school dressed in their school t-shirt and jumper (so they are easily identifiable on the visit) but they can wear shorts/jeans if they wish. Please look at the weather forecast on the morning of the visit to make sure you are sending your child with the appropriate items. If it is going to be quite warm, please make sure to put sun cream on before school and send them with a sun hat.
All children are able to bring a rucksack with a beach towel and a bucket and spade in, as we will be spending some of the afternoon on the beach. We have now ordered children a packed lunch from school if we were not advised by you that they were bringing a packed lunch from home. Please do not bring a packed lunch from home if a school meal has been ordered.
We are very excited to be taking the children on their first educational visit in a while. We hope they really enjoy it!
