Our school day will begin at 8:45am, staff will meet you on the maze. Our school day will finish at 3:00pm and you can collect your child from the same place. For the safety of the children, could you please ensure that you do not take your child until a member of staff have seen you.
Play time: 10:30am
Dinner time: 12:00pm-1.15pm
Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday.
Please could you ensure that your child has their PE kits in school. The following PE kit is needed; a red top, shorts/leggings/joggers, pumps or trainers. At Sitwell Infant School we value PE as an important part of the curriculum, therefore we expect all children to take part in PE each week. Please ensure that your child is not wearing earrings/ jewellery. We do not want children to miss out on valuable learning experiences in school.
Please ensure that your child has their book bags and reading diary at school every day. Children will need to hand in their reading diaries every Monday morning. You will find your child's current book band colour and reference to their individual reading targets at the front of the diary. When your child has read 3 times each week they will receive a stamp. Once they have collected 6 stamps they will win a prize from Mrs Peart!
Home learning tasks will be posted on Google Classroom every Friday. This will alternate between a Phonics task one week, Maths the following week. When the homework is completed don't forget to hand in, take photos or screen shots to share how your child did.
Our Autumn Term topic was Sun, Sea and Sand. The children had lots of exciting learning experiences during this topic. These included our visit to Cleethorpes, seaside through the ages, seascapes, sea shanties, exploring maps of the UK, human and physical features.
Class 1 enjoyed a text called ‘The Storm Whale.’ They developed their writing skills in poetry, letter writing, narrative and instructions. In Maths they focused on place value, addition and subtraction. During Science they explored living things and their habitats, as well as investigating materials and their properties.
Our Spring Term topic is Enchanted Woodlands. We are very excited to share lots of fantastic learning experiences during this topic. These will include our visit to Austerfield Study Centre, investigating plants, tree's and woodland animals, exploring physical features of landscapes and compass directions, developing hockey and tennis skills, caring for the environment, designing and making food products and researching significant individuals such as, David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg.
As writers, Class 1 will be developing skills in writing instructions, setting and characters descriptions and alternative endings to stories. As Mathematicians, Class 2 will be focusing on representing and partitioning numbers, recognising and combining coins, fractions of quantities and developing strategies for addition and multiplication.
Our Summer Term topic is Outrageous Creatures.
