Attendance
It has long been recognised that academic success is built upon a sound foundation of good attendance. As a school we have a shared legal responsibility with parents and carers to ensure that all children attend school regularly.
95%-100% attendance is seen as good attendance, and as a school we aim for every child to achieve this target. Sitwell Infant School uses ‘attendance zones’ to offer support, at an early stage, to those experiencing difficulties.
Red - 91% and below Amber - 92% - 95% Green 96% and above
Attendance is tracked on a weekly basis to monitor children within the above zones.
Throughout the year, attendance is monitored and attendance which falls below 96% may be subject to a monitoring period. If attendance does not improve, meetings may be held in school to support families.
We recognise and reward good attendance in a variety of ways at Sitwell Infant School. We celebrate class and whole school attendance and children are praised regularly to motivate and encourage good attendance habits. Our whole school aim is to achieve 96% or higher attendance. Each week we celebrate the classes that have achieved our whole school target of 96%. This week the classes are:
Rose Class
Tulip Class
Bluebell Class
Poppy Class
Snowdrop Class
Please try your very best to send your child to school every day and on time.
Leave of Absence & Holiday Requests
Please note that we follow government guidance for considering any requests for leave of absence during term time. Holidays will not be authorised and you may be fined for removing your child from school. If you are considering a leave of absence, please call into Reception and make an appointment to speak with Mrs Peart about this.
