In assembly on Monday, we discussed in an age appropriate, child friendly way, the recent events in Ukraine and how people around the world are helping each other during this difficult time. Following advice from the Educational Psychology Service, we wanted to give children some appropriate information and reassure them that they do not need to worry about the things that are happening as important people from different countries are working together and hopefully the conflict will end soon. As advised by the EPS, we did not want to ignore this conversation as this can lead to children having wider misconceptions and increase their worries.
We know that many of you are concerned about the current situation in Ukraine and have been in touch regarding how to speak to your child about the unfolding events. Please find below a link to a useful resource from the British Psychology Society, which explains the best way to support your child if they are anxious about the current situation.
