Welcome back!
Mon 02 Jun 2025Welcome back!
We hope all our children and families have had a wonderful half term holiday. We are very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow for the final half term of the year! Thank you to everyone who has shared learning and experiences on Google Classroom this week. We have loved seeing what you have been getting up to! Every class will be holding a Google class news time this week so make sure to share!
Please see below some key reminders for the coming week so you are well prepared:
Eid celebrations
We know that many of our families will be celebrating Eid on Friday 6th June. This day is an authorised absence, but only if families let us know that this is the reason for the absence. Please either ring or email school to inform us that your child's absence on this day is for the Eid celebration. We can then authorise this. Just a polite reminder that children can only have one day's authorised leave and anything other than this will be unauthorised.
School Lunches
Please ensure you have ordered your child's lunches for the week if they require a lunch provided by school. This must be done before 8am each day on Parent Pay so it is much easier to order a week or multiple weeks in advance rather than ordering each day. PLEASE NOTE THAT SCHOOL LUNCHES NEED TO BE ORDERED VIA PARENT PAY AND NOT ARBOR.
PE kit
All children's PE kits need to be brought back into school tomorrow as we will be beginning our new PE lessons this week with Live & Learn. Please ensure your child has a pair of leggings/jogging bottoms in their PE bag as well as we may complete PE lessons outside sometimes. The hoodies that have been provided by school must be included in their PE kit bag (if they were taken home), and not worn to school as a jumper.
School Uniform
Please ensure you have labelled your child's uniform clearly so that if it is misplaced, we can easily find it. We had a lot of uniform lost last half term where there were no names in.
After School Clubs
As shared before the holidays, all club places have now been allocated and will begin this week. Please ensure payment has been made or the place will be offered to the next on the waiting list.
Wraparound Care
Thank you to those of you who have signed up for Breakfast Club and Tea Club places. As a reminder, all sessions must be paid for in advance and for safeguarding reasons, children are not able to just turn up on the day. Please ensure you have booked and paid for your places via the Arbor App. Don't forget - we are offering a free session at either club if you want your child to try this for free. Just get in touch with reception and we can organise this for you.
School reopens at the normal time tomorrow morning. We look forward to seeing you all!
Thank you for your continued support.

Sports Day 2025
Tue 20 May 2025Following on from our newsletter shared yesterday, we apologise that we did not add the upcoming Sports Day date onto this. Sports Day will be happening on Wednesday 2nd July in the morning.
All children will be placed in a Sitwell Superhero team and will need to wear a specific colour t-shirt for this day. Children come to school dressed in their PE kits. We will send out further information shortly.
Thank you. -
Behaviour of older children on school property
Sun 18 May 2025We are growing increasingly concerned about the behaviour of older children when they come onto school property at the beginning or end of the school day. Over the past few weeks, class teachers have had to speak to several children about using our equipment. Scooters and bikes should not be ridden on school property either.
Please ensure that you do not allow your children to play on the school equipment during this time - it is NOT permitted. Parents are responsible for the behaviour and safety of their children whilst on school grounds. Please ensure you remind your children of our expectations.
Thank you for your continued support.

Pumps for PE
Sun 02 Mar 2025Following feedback from parents after our fire drill, we have made the decision that children will wear PE pumps for all PE lessons in the hall, except for when they are doing gymnastics.
Can you please ensure your child has a pair of black pumps in school in their PE bag please. If they do not have any currently, you are able to purchase these from Asda, Tesco etc for only a few pounds.
Thank you.

Sitwell Infant School Nursery - opening September 2025!
Sun 02 Mar 2025We are delighted to announce that we have been given approval to open a Nursery class within our school, and this will be open from September 2025. We know many parents are keen for this to happen. Thank you to anyone who completed the consultation online, we appreciate your support!
We are currently in the process of collating the information we have from our interest list on the website. If you have not completed this yet, please do so as soon as possible. We will be in touch shortly if your child is going to be able to be in our first cohort of children in September. This is for children who are already 3 or who turn 3 before the end of August.
Thank you again for your continued support.

Mobile phones on school property
Mon 10 Feb 2025We have noticed recently that more and more parents are using mobile phones on the school property. We are a mobile free school, which means that parents are not permitted to use mobile phones on school property.
Please ensure that when you are dropping children off, picking them up or you are in school for an event, your mobile phone is out of sight and is not being used. Staff will ask parents to put mobile phones away if we see you are using them on school property.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Medical Appointments
Sun 19 Jan 2025The government have recently changed the guidelines regarding attendance and we wanted to share this with you. A change has been made regarding children being absent first thing in the morning for a medical appointment. We are no longer able to change the child's mark from Medical to a present mark, and this means that your child will have an absence marked on this day. This counts in their attendance figures.
Where possible, we are requesting that you do not book appointment for first thing in the morning as this negatively impacts your child's attendance and the school attendance as a whole. Please try to book dentist or doctors appointments after school, or towards the end of the school day as this means your child will have got their marks for the day.
Thank you for your continued support with your child's attendance.
