Due to the expansion of school and the opening of a Nursery Class, governors of Sitwell Infant School are seeking to appoint a well-motivated, enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our hard working, outstanding support staff team. The successful candidate will also work as a Lunchtime Leader, providing support to children during the lunchtime period. The post is temporary in the first instance, with a view to being made permanent in the future and is subject to a satisfactory probationary period of six months.

Sitwell Infant School is a large and successful infant school with an inclusive and child centred ethos, and we are looking for an energetic and talented teaching assistant to join our wonderful team. Ofsted judged us Outstanding in June 2014 and we have continued to be relentless in our pursuit for all children to reach their full potential.

If you have a strong commitment to raising children’s achievement through an exciting and stimulating curriculum, are self-motivated, want to make a real difference to children’s futures and be part of a wonderful learning community then you will enjoy being part of our friendly, happy school. We are passionate about teaching and learning and believe it is a privilege to work alongside all children and their families.

We wish to appoint an outstanding professional who:

  • Has a passion to help and support children and see them thrive
  • Is patient and has a caring and positive attitude towards all children
  • Will empathise with children and understand their different learning styles
  • Will confidently deliver a range of activities 1:1 or in small groups to support learning
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Has good timekeeping and organisational skills
  • Can use their initiative to work creatively, independently and flexibly
  • Has competent ICT skills, and is confident to create and prepare resources
  • Is motivated, keen to learn and willing to undergo further training where necessary
  • Will share our commitment for inclusion and pastoral care, ensuring all children reach their full potential

We are able to offer:

  • The opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic, fun loving and dedicated team of staff
  • A happy, stimulating and safe learning environment
  • A strong, supportive and highly experienced leadership team and governing body, committed to staff well-being
  • Strong supportive partnerships with parents and the wider community
  • Opportunities for professional development and training both in school and externally, to develop your own skills as a practitioner
  • The opportunity to make a real difference to the lives and futures of our children

We would love to meet caring, hardworking people who want to make a difference to our children's learning and well-being.

The school prides itself on its welcoming and positive environment. Visits are warmly encouraged and these will take place from Monday 12th May to Wednesday 25th June. Please contact Debra Darkin, School Business Manager on (01709) 531855 to arrange an appointment.
